Learning through Play, Led by Curiosity

At The Ark, we believe that children learn best when they are happy, engaged and encouraged to follow their natural curiosity.

We follow the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework and shape our curriculum around each child’s interests, abilities and pace of development.

Our approach blends structured learning with imaginative play, creating opportunities for children to explore language, maths, creative expression and the wider world.

Each child is supported by a dedicated key person who works closely with families to understand and nurture their individual progress.

Our aim is to build strong foundations for future learning — and a lifelong love of discovery.

Goat Class
(2–3 year olds)

Why the Goat?

Goats are naturally curious, energetic, and sure-footed—just like toddlers starting to explore their independence. They’re playful and adaptable, yet still need nurturing and support. The goat is a gentle, relatable animal for younger children and reflects the early stages of learning through discovery. Its earthy connection also supports outdoor play and a grounded, calm atmosphere for this age group.

Kangaroo Class
(3–4 year olds)

Why the Kangaroo?

Kangaroos are known for their strong sense of care (think: pouch!) as well as their ability to hop forward with confidence. For 3–4 year olds preparing for school, the kangaroo symbolises independence, readiness, and growth—while still carrying that sense of belonging and reassurance. It’s a dynamic, active animal that suggests movement, development, and a leap into the next stage of learning.
